Over 100 people attend a special event to launch an 'Enterprise Club' for unemployed residents of Hammersmith & Fulham.
The H&F Enterprise Club has been developed to assist and motivate unemployed people who are interested in become self-employed or looking to start a small business in the borough.
The launch event was held on Wednesday, November 15 at The Macbeth Centre in Hammersmith. Guest of honour was Mayor of the borough, Cllr Frances Stainton.
Cllr Stainton said:
“It was my great pleasure to attend this fascinating event and it was truly inspirational to speak to so many hard working residents who have set up their own businesses or who intend to during these tough times. I am sure that their stories will prove to be an inspiration to anyone who is unemployed.”
The council is working on a number of key areas to help clients understand how businesses work and encourage the unemployed to improve their skills to create viable new businesses in the borough.
The launch included talks from H&F business owners about their experience of starting up a small business and provided an opportunity for attendees to hold discussions with a set of established business owners. It was also an opportunity to ask residents what they would like to see included in the Enterprise Club workshop programme, in the coming months.
A business owner who attended was David Woods, Managing Director of the Best of Hammersmith & Fulham. He spoke to Maddie Anderson who has recently started a company called Memories in Lace and Giacomo La Monaca, who is currently in the process of setting up his own film equipment rental company in West London.
Also present was Paul Kelly, Chairman of the West London Federation of Small Business. He gave a energised speech, about the starting his business in Hammersmith and Fulham a few years back with the help of the Enterprise Centre in Shepherds Bush.
The H&F Enterprise Club will officially start the second week in January 2012 with only a limited number of spaces on each workshop. So booking your place will be essential.
